We see them at around 300ma like the stock Surefire drop in and then like 900mah or higher. I'd like to find one that would be low enough to operate continuously in a G2, but high enough to have killer output. maybe 500 - 600mah? Waddya think?

Funny, I've been giving this some thought lately. I built a Malkoff M60 for my Dad a while back that fits this description. Cree Q2 WG tint with 460ma output, 120+ lumens for 6 hrs on primaries. It will run continuous, with no heat issues in a G2. He really likes it. I had also thought about putting a 25 degree collimator to make it a good all around house/emergency/room lighter type dropin. Any interest???

I would LOVE something like that for say placement in a G2 for in house use. 6 hours on primaries with that bright of a flood? HECK YEAH. Now don't get me wrong -I love your lamps that provide long throw, warm color, long primary time, and great flood for my outside/tactical lights; but for around the house, for working around in the shop or barn at night, or to keep for emergency lighting - those would be great.

I'd buy several of those if the price was not too much. Seems to me you could set those up on a tailcap or in between the cushions on the couch and flood illuminate a whole room with very useable/functional light. Alan

Gene, still have not bought one of your lights, but building up something for the G2 is a great idea, G3 too if benefit is longer runtime. Keep mA's down so heat not an issue and use your well heat sinked module. Real life lumen output may not be 120 lumens and closer to 80-90, what the SF module does in a metal 6P, but your heatsinking would be better than Surefire's and good for non metal G2-G3. Experiment with it.

Thanks guys, its something I've been toying around with for a while. When I built Dad's, I made one for myself. I've been using it in my G2 for several months. Its perfect for checking on stuff (chickens, ect...) around here when I expect to be running it for a while.

I had Milkyspit build me a drop-in for my G2.
it is set to run a 200ma. Great run time, nice white light.
I think there will be a market for long run time, good out-put drop-ins.
my G2 is now one of my favorites!

Gene, I would love to have one of your products! They are very very hard to get in time though! I think a 500mA "utility" 6P drop in would be great for times you want to run for a few hours straight. Especially with a collomator! If you'll take Money order or debit card I'll buy one today! Today! And wait on the build........
Serious. If it would be G2 specific, then I'll buy a G2

I definetly want one. I'd like it to be SSCp4 based though as I like the beam profile better. I'd say 500-550ma tops. A good buck/boost circuit would squeeze every bit of juice out of the batts. I thought about building one myself out of a BOG 3W led drop in, but I suck at that and would end up screwing it up.

the dx cree 5-mode that i was able to test draws around 450ma+ on max(medium was around 180ma and low at ~90ma). it'll only work with li-ion's though so you'll need a 176x0 cell.
