Perhaps i am just impatient, but i have noticed a stall in new lights (at least from my POV). are the manufactures holding off with the XR-E's in anticipating a sales surge for the XP-G's? What have you heard or think?

I can wait for the Quarks and the rest of them to come out with the XP-G. My Q2-Q5 lights are just as bright despite learning about a new LED. Come to think of it my pre cree LEDs also still work. What I hope for is the lights offer better runtimes on lower levels rather than the same drivers putting out say 30ish % more light for the same old runtimes. I mean a 100 lumen light putting out 130? So what. But running 30% longer at 100 lumens would be better in my view. But I am no expert on these things so will just wait and see.

Couldn't agree more. That's why the most obvious candidates for an update are the D10 and the other piston drives. You'd still be adjusting to the same level to suit your task, but have the benefit of longer runtime at whatever level you set. And you'd also have a little more at the top end just in case you need it.

Come on Nitecore, what are you waiting for ? - let's get on with it !!

 I agree with you! In my experience even 50% more lumens is a very little encrease of brightness, while 50% more runtime is a huge pro!

Couldn't agree more.
+1

+1 Not to mention that a 30% decrease in the drive current needed to achieve a given level of light will result in an increased runtime of greater than 30%.

I'd like to see 4sevens push the Turbo level up quite a bit higher, say 210-220 OTF lumens for 2xAA, and 270+ OTF lumens for 2xCR123. However, I agree that it would be ideal to keep all other levels the same and increase their runtimes.

XP-G production just seems to be ramping up - we're waiting for some R4's for a project and probably won't see them for another month :/

As for maxing the LED on turbo, that would be good, but only if it's really detectable. If not, then I'd prefer a longer runtime on turbo
