I've read a lot of good reviews on the McLux + NX-05 setup. I would like to add this to my "beginner' collection. Where can I buy this light?

Thanks,
Kenneth

keithhr - Thanks for the link. Very informational but it still doesn't tell me how I can acquire one and how much. In fact, since it's a limited production run, I don't even know if it is still available.

mst3k - I'm still a CPF newbie. So, any valuable info you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kenneth

Kenneth, wait in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum and hope to heck that someone will sell theirs...

Or keep an eye out on the Do It Yourself components you can buy from Dat2zip's Homepage and make your own McLux.

Otherwise, they aren't being made anymore, and that's all she wrote...

The McLux right now is about as valuable as unlimited batteries are to a flashaholic...

I bought mine through B/S/T forum and they were a limited run, special order, one time only, pre made and fabricated light that was designed by certain members of the cpf. I was really lucky to get mine and if you keep a good lookout, someone will probably sell theirs for any number of reasons.

Now I'm a little confused /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Dat2zip's site isn't real clear, can we order a Mclux kit that includes all the pieces and you just put it together yourself? Is this kit not yet available?

If so does anybody know how much $$$?

The kit is not yet available. Wayne is waiting on the components. In addition to a McLux head and single 123 power tail, there will also be 2x123 and 3x123 power tails available. These are all in EN plating. Once these parts are here and placed in circulation, the existing McLux program is done. Given the overwhelming acceptance of the McLux, perhaps Hotfoot and his company should look at a next step of refinement of product with intent of legitimate production and offering. Such decisions are up to others.

On an aside, I am concerned that I and others now find ourselves on a thin line these days. The exclusion of non-sponsors from posting on CPF seems to have placed a gray fog around some of the "hobby" commerce here on CPF. Breaking even on some of these programs in terms of hard costs (forget about the time invested) is an ultimate goal. To add an additional monthly cost of $40 as a sponsor for someone like myself doesn't make economic sense; not that anything I've done to date with flashlights makes economic sense. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif This paragraph is off topic yet I felt the need to express my concern that at some point, a question like "Where can I buy McLux + NX-05" may not be answerable by those in a position who know because they may be CPF members with a vested interest in a program, but are not "Sponsors". Funding CPF is one thing and in the past, I have tried to contribute my share. I am concerned that the current rules and framework will either preclude a free flow of information or place folks in a position of unintentionally breaking the rules; at least as the rules may be interpreted by some.

Guys, keep doing as you've been doing. If you cross some sort of "thin" line, I'm sure there would be meaningful and beneficial discussions on a personal basis from the powers that be. Don't underestimate your value to CPF just as you are.

But don't try initiating a thread in the dealer's corner. That's what you'd have to pay for. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
