So i read this thread Precision Optic lens AKA aspherical for incandescent flash lights?

And it made me want to use an aspherical lens on my incan mag lite.

I currently have a home made 6AA to 2D adapter in it so i am trying to figure out which bulb and lens combo will give me the best throw I read that thread but i was confused by all the posts nothing seemed to say exactly which was the best combo?

Also is anyone interested in how i made the 6AA to D adapter it cost less then $5 heck could be done for less then $1 if you wanted to. It also works great as a battery pack or a 3AA to D adapter with a little mods..

Cheap and sturdy.

Thanks!

An aspheric lens, at sharpest focus, will project a sharp image of the glowing filament coils, at any distance.

I can't speak about the "best bulb", but can say that one with the smallest possible filament will give a tighter hotspot. Axial and transverse filaments would both be worth trying.

One tip that is essential with incan aspherics is that you must use a smooth reflector, or, believe it or not, no reflector. Definitely no "orange peel" or stippling. The result otherwise will make you downright queasy.
