Which LED Light Started it All?

Which one did you first bought that gave way for you to go deeper in the world of LED technology?

For me, it was the Duracell Daylite AAA model. That thing broke down 2 months after I owned it. I loved it so that I decided that I should get something more robust so I went for a Surefire G2--their cheapest lineup to see what all the fuss was about.

For me it was a terralux lighstar 220, didn't break down on me but it has rings in the beam.

Started me into fenix and quarks and mag drop-ins.

A Inova micro light I got in Japan and a CMG infinity ultra. Funny I go to Japan and get a light from A USA company.

Probably the dorcy 1AAA LED. It had decent output... was small, rugged and cheap at $7 it was the best bargain out there. For awhile almost everyone had one and there were lots of threads on trying to find them and modding them and using the circuit for other lights. If they had improved it and sold it for $10 we would have never bothered with the Fenix E01 lights.

Brinkmann Rebel 2 x AA flashlight was what started it all. From there it has been non stop crazy!

I do wonder what the first commercially available Cree led flashlight was.

Same for me until I took it in the pool one night to find something at the bottom :) I thought is was waterproof, who knew?

went through a 2+ day power outage without having any decent lights...so I did some research and bought a Fenix L2D Q5 after seeing a few youtube reviews....that same day found cpf and placed an order for a Brass Peak Pacific. havent looked back since.

I've always been interested in flashlights. I remember seeing purple/blue LEDs in a VCR I had taken apart and using some batteries to make my own "light". It was short lived, I didn't know about the resistors and I used to stick with 9v batteries. I've always been on the look out for great flashlights. Many many years later, I ran across LED Museum's site which mentioned CPF and from there I would say my first quality LED flashlight is the ArcAAA, but probably had a few fairly dim LED lights from Walmart.

Mine is the Philips Metaflash. Love the light even though it weights 10 times my ITP A3 which has same output.

Some little keychain LED then Arc aaa, it was all over after that.

The RiverRock 1aa 1w led. Paid $22 and it's still kickin 4 or 5 years later with plenty of battle scars from duty use and washer/dryer lol.

My first was a Brookstone LED that cost $50. It lasts forever on the original batteries. I only changed the batteries a second time since I owned it. The light is weak, maybe only 10 lumens? I don't know.

My second was a Dorcy from Target. Nothing special. However it was more powerful than my Brookstone.

I had found Photon I, then Photon 2 and a original CMG Infinity (pre-ultra) on my own, but I think the real addiction kicked in when finding CPF and reading the hundreds of posts surrounding the Arc AAA release.

PalLight Survivor. I still love the glow feature of those lights and how I can re-use old smoke detector batteries in them which seem to last forever.

For me it was my Lux-V L4 I got in Iraq in '08. Told my wife that was going to be the most I spent on a light over ($110). I also ended up buying an L1 and an E2L while Iwas there...the L4 really sold me on SF's LED's. But, I still remember how hot that sucker got!
