Which one next?

Hello All,

First, great forum. I go to my share of fora around the net and I'm hard pressed to find a more civilized bunch. Anyway, here's my "dilemma". I put quotes because if your biggest problem of the day is which flashlight to get, then it's probably a good day.

In a nutshell, Jetbeam RRT-0 or an HDS Ra Clicky 170 Executive Custom?

Some background -

I started getting into lights after replacing my old Aquatec Aqua Star LED (all 23 whopping lumens). It's an old backup dive light from my diving days that I started using as an all-around flashlight. It was good, but old alkalines got to it (I know better now).

I looked online for a suitable replacement, found this forum, and here I am. I remember thinking "man these guys are NUTS about flashlights!". Somehow you get sucked into it, but in a fun way.

I started with the Fenix LD10 R4 (which the wife now uses) and I was hooked. There are lots of benefits to having a good light with you. I now carry a Fenix PD30 R4, and I have a Jetbeam RRT-2 from Bug Out Gear on it's way, so now the question - which one next?

I'll probably get both eventually, so it's mostly a question of which one to enjoy now.

Thanks for the input guys.

Regards,
Paolo

I can't speak for the RA since I don't own one. I do own an RRT-0 and LOVE it! I purchased it with the AA extender and even though I haven't used the extender, its nice to have the versatility to use a multitude of batteries from rechargeable, lithium, and even alkalines if needed.

I'm sure the RA is an awesome light based on everything I have read about it. I wouldn't mind having one some day. But for the money, $88 to the door with the extender from BugOut Gear, its pretty tough to beat the RRT-0.

Just my $.02

Jetbeam RRT-0

Brighter and uses AA or 123. Can't speak for durability

Thanks for the input so far guys. The more I look, the more I think I should get both NOW.

RichardCPF - when you say "Can't speak for durability" do you mean you don't have experience, or is there a reliability issue I haven't seen on the Jetbeam/RRT reviews? I thought I've read most of them.

Ra, hands down.

Thanks for the replies. Sorry for the delay in responses. I think as a new member my posts need to get audited first before showing up here.

The Ra does have my attention. From a functional standpoint, it looks VERY interesting. On the other hand, the RRT-0, like the RRT-2 I just HAD to have, is one good looking light. The reviews so far on performance and build quality are good too.

Thanks for everyone's responses. Unless I see something scathing on this thread in the next couple hours, it's going to be the Ra first, then the RRT-0 to follow. Sooner rather than later, I hope.

In the meantime I think the Ra will also give the lineup some variety.

Because you already have an RRT-2 on the way, that will let you see in general how you like Jetbeam and the ring, so I say go for the Ra Clicky.
