I have a Nitecore EX10 R2 inbound and want to get a charger so that I can use RCR 123A's as well as primaries. What about the Ultrafire WF138 charger? What about AW's protected R123A's? I am new to recharables, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

AW´s RCR´s are great, but allmost all chargers for RCR face the problem of overcharging. If you remove the batteries as soon as the status LED´s signal end of charging, you will be fine. But never leave the charger and the batteries unattended or leave the batteries longer in the charger as they should...:poof:

Only charger I would recommend is the PILA charger, but this is not as cheap as the other chargers around.

I use the Pila charger with those cells, and it works fine. I usually pull them within a few minutes of getting a green signal, but I have on occasion accidentally let them stay on an hour or so past green. Even then, I have never had any problems. Voltage fresh off the charger consistently reads ~4.10-4.15v. :twothumbs

Hi i have this charger

http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_3&products_id=102879

when it light goes Green it charges into trickle mode.
I had it for 3 year sometimes it read 4.20 to 4.3 volts fresh depending on the battery.

But when i let the batteries to cool down for about 5 mins the voltage drops to below 4.2v.

The only issue i've have had with this charger it that the right channel did not turn green when charging 2 batteries . I only found out after the warranty expired. But this is not a problem because i take it from the right channel and place it in the left channel and it turn green immediately.

hope this helps

For a cheap charger, the WF-139 is probably your best bet. If you want more reliability and safety, get the Pila IBC charger. It's expensive, but it's worth it. Whatever charger you get, monitor it with a multimeter during the first charge to make sure it doesn't overcharge.

Read the link in my signature, it explains how to use Li-ion cells in a safe manner.
