Hmmmmm....... seems like two totally different lights. Why don't you tell us a little about how you are planning to use your new light. Is this going to be a pocket (EDC) light, or a general purpose around the house/car kind of light?
If you're looking at the Gladius, you might also want to check out 2 new contenders on the market:

I don't own either one, but have been considering both (especially with the multi-level drop-ins), and have come to the conclusion that either one will probably provide an excellent value in a rugged, bright, long running illumination tool.
Of course, as a new (and very happy) owner of the Novatac 120P, I can highly recommend this light as a wonderful, full featured pocket light. But, you might also want to consider the Fenix P2D CE, as it costs about 1/3 what the Novatac goes for, and is a fine pocket light in it's own right.
My main use for my next light would be for work(LEO). On my belt I have the P3D set up in the front and in the back I have my Cree'd 6P as my back up. What I want now is a light with a very tight hot spot. The main reason is to have a better blinding affect cause the majority of the light will be right on the perps face.
There is ONE extra step in the Gladius's battery change procedure... ONE. Getting used to it only really requires reading the instructions and trying the procedure a couple times, like you'd do with any new light.I have the nova T and its bright, I also had the Gladius (stock 80 Lumens) and that is already bright. i would say after the upgrade it would be much brighter. the only downfall for the Gladius is the battery change its a pain in the neck if your not use to it. How about U2 or the Tiablo A8 (tiablo is about 200 lumens) the only thing your going to lose is the disorienting storbe.
