Who want a LED drop in for Surefire A2?

What drop in would you prefer?

I love to have the A2 with incan but would like an option for the latest Cree or Seoul. So who would like a drop in for the incan replacement?

The appeal of the A2 to me pretty much is that it's a regulated incan of high quality. I can get other lights for CREE.

Umm, yeah, and you wouldn't have any way to cool it, it'd be almost like the cree/seoul drop in for the E series.. just not practical..

Plus, wouldn't that make this a funky Kroma, in a way? The A2 is cool because it's a regulated incandescent, and I'd keep it that way :)

I bought my A2 for its regulated xenon....If I wanted a CREE or Seoul light I would've chose other lights.

Im not boring, but...a retrofit LED will defeat the purpose of the A2, but I suppose its an excellent idea though. i might buy one as a spare lamp asembly when my xenon does burn out:ohgeez:

Who would trade the insane color rendition and throw of the stock regulated A2 lamp for a ghostly glow of light with poor outdoor and poor fog performance? Don't ruin a perfectly designed piece of enginery.

This thread is a disgrace to CPF Incandescent users and an insult to SureFire R&D team.

the hard truth....:ohgeez:

I wouldn't mind one with a drop-in Seoul or Cree... but for me the best use of the new LEDs is for better runtime, not an enormous increase in output...

The thing about a drop-in is that it would allow for two types of beam pattern -- tighter for throw and floody for general use. That's something a single light-source flashlight cannot do, like the L2.

The whole point of an A2 is the regulated incan. Why bother if it didnt have that. It wouldnt be an interesting light at all if it was just two LEDs.

ME! ME! I still would want one. We play with these things all day. Try this - try that.

Drop in, I take it, will also drop out and you could be right back to incan.

When can we expect one... or two?

Njoy...

It was my first intention that the future Cree go into the LED spots, and leave the bulb for when it is needed. I thinks others would go for this route, leaving an unbeatable high beam and a potent "low" as well. The incan could probably be moved up a notch in output, as it would not be needed too often. Lots of possibilities here.

Just imagine, 3 super bright Crees/Leds for the ring, i doubt the incan will show through. What about the power consumption on 3 super bright Crees?

I doubt an LED drop-in module is even possible (to replace the incandescent lamp), it wouldn't fit without remachining the head.

oh it will...LEDs are good on a clear night...a foggy night or a smoky location is a completely different story. thats where xenons are good for
