Hi All,

I am wondering why surefire changed the name of the surefire HellFire to Surefire HellFighter?

I cant undertand why the changed. Is there any differnce from the HellFire?

Thanks!

My understanding:

Those that manufacture the "Hellfighter" missile took exception to the name based on trademark grounds.

In my mind, two different types of products, but they both end up on the battlefield....so maybe that was the rub?

Many people who take out trademarks aggressively defend their territory.
If you are large enough to develop and manufacture Hellfighter missiles, chance are you have the legal juice/resources to enforce your claims.

Small name correction....it is the "Hellfire" missile, and like Ken says if it was not a trademark issue (try using the "McDonald's" name for anything), it was a practical one of some General ordering a missile strike and the supply Sergeant realizing they only have a crate of combat flashlights. :faint:

Here is the better scenario:

You order 5 SureFire Hellfires for your convoy operations...
Instead you get 5 A10's and the appropriate number of Hellfire missiles to load the birds up....

Now all you have to do is send a few of your infrantrymen to the nearest crash course in combat aivation operations before the next contact with the enemy.....
