Why don't Peak's SS flashlights have knurling?

I believe the tubes on the SS and Ti models are made from tubing instead of solid stock. Knurling thin tubing is not easy to do, it usually will crush or deform before knurling. Peak did have a few SS models at one time that where knurled.

It's been said many times before, but if you call them, they will offer stellarservice. :twothumbs:

Sorry, I seem to have set my clock a couple decades fast... :ironic:

It wouldn't be that hard, really; there should be dropdowns for:

1. Aluminum/Steel/Brass/Titanium
2. Polished/Brushed/Anodized (w/ color options, if any)
3. Smooth/Knurled
4. Keychain bottom/Flat bottom
5. Number of LEDs
6. LED color
7. Normal power/High power

The architecture is already there, because two of those dropdowns already exist, and two more are specified implicitly by which model you're looking at. Someone just needs to do it.

Sounds like you just volunteered:sssh:.

RyanA - I know you didn't imply me, but to answer Deus, people have...at no cost...and they accepted on this forum...but it seems as if they prefer what they have...at least for now...

Yes but it does go so far beyond that. Some of the lights are available with options that are truly one of a kind. I mean When I ordered my light (called them) they are building me something that is so far away from what is "available" that it should a one of a kind! Even Curt apologizes for the website. Also according to some reviews they have a potential of 1700 configurations!!! A website nightmare- especially from an ordering standpoint. I honestly think they keep the site the way it is so your forced to call them (I'm glad I did!)

True true :) And they are friendly and helpful. :twothumbs

:ironic: How apropos that this is at the top of the forum. I just got this email:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your interest in our products!

I am sorry - the only stainless steel knurled bodies we have or will make is the AAA matterhorn, and the little 10280 and 10180 bodies that go with the matterhorn heads.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

So, I guess that means I can't get a knurled SS McKinley after all.

Thanks Robyn- any sales coming down the pike like say the night/combat patrol or first responder?

That was me, quoting Robyn.

It must be some pretty thin pipe stock if they can't machine some bands into it and then crosshatch the thicker areas. We're only talking 1mm max here.

If the SS McKinley is made from pipe stock, how do they make the bottoms?

This sucks, for the record. I really like the way the SS head looks (silver w/clear LEDs), and I want a scratch-resistant finish (which black anodized aluminum is not, by my standards), and I want knurling because I like the way it feels in my hand. Brass is an option, in theory, but it tarnishes fast -- especially in air that has any pollution in it, like mine does.

Okay, here's an idea. Can brass or aluminum take nickel plating? I could live with a nice smooth nickel-plated finish.
