I really don't like ordering from China because of their military.
But I'm forced to because I can't find any elsewhere. The ones I find in the states are just imported China cells. Why doesn't anyone else make em?
Thanks

Sorry i don understand you first statement

Why in china? it simply because of the economics, less overhead more profit.

Well the Chinese military has to pay for itself. It actually has its own companies and such that make products to pay for it. Hence, when you have companies like Wal-Mart buying from them all the time you're actually strengthening their military.
Furthermore you got child labor going on in China as well. So I really don't prefer to buy from them.

Sanyo and Sony are two brands of Japan-made Li-ion cells.

And I highly doubt the statement about the Chinese military running factories to fund itself, but that is off topic. If you have any proof of this, you can send it to me in a PM.

It's because China has large amounts of Lithium (From the Tibet region) AND they have the industrial base to use it.

South America has the bulk of lithium in the world, but I don't expect to see Bolivian/Chilean batteries anytime soon. In fact, I rarely see anything but fruits/vegetables from South America.

Brazil has one of the largest aircraft industries in the world. Mid-range and commuter aircraft. Last I checked, they are South America. And don't forget those Brazilian beaches.

I think it has a fair amount to do with the fact that "reputable" non-Chinese manufacturers don't/won't sell individual and/or bare Li-ion cells to anyone but carefully qualified battery pack manufacturers, due to all sorts of "dangers" and liability issues.

The entrapeneurs in China will sell to anyone... (communist capitalists?)

The ignorance displayed in this post is a far greater threat than the Chinese military.
