Will stock Ra Clicky body hold an 18500?

I was just looking down the battery tube of my Ra Clicky and realized that between the spring in there and in the head, there seems to be quite a bit of play. It SEEMS like it may be possible but of course I wouldn't want to damage anything. Anyone know?

Other than possibly modding it, it won't fit.

1) I just tried a protected AW 18500 and it is too fat.

2) An AA battery is about the same length as the 18500 and it fits into the battery tube, however, I cannot screw it down.
