Hi guys,
I was going to give this a try but now know that it is way to much for me to do on a mini lathe.
What I would like is someone to make a set of Ti parts to match the Pilot Whale parts. I have the light and the Ti raw stock and I'm willing to pay whatever it takes to get a Ti Pilot whale body. I will send the complete light along with a 12" piece of 2.5" Ti grade 5.

Here is what the Pilot Whale parts look like. (pic borrowed from a review thread, but I can provide other pics if needed)

The largest OD diameter is 2.5" and that is in the middle of the head.

There are four parts that need made: tailcap, battery tube/ head, bezel, and bezel ring.
I would like the tailcap made a little different, basically just a little longer so as the extended past the rubber switch button cover so the light can tailstand.
If your interested in making some extra money or have questions about the task please let me know.

Thanks, Dwayne

There is a tail standing version of that tail cap if you want to copy the Wolf Eyes design.

I know I can't do this on my lathe, but how close to identical does the Ti version have to be?

Can the person who works on it take some liberties with the design, or should it be as close to identical as possible?

Glad you asked, there are areas in the design that can be left out or off. I actually don't care if it ends up with a completely different build as long as the Ti version will execpt the original internal parts and that is really just the light engine and battery carrier with switch button cover.
I don't need the crenulations or scallops on the bezel and I don't need the flats on the battery tube. The rest of it is a rather simple and plain design. I do want the fins on the head as they really are needed for heatsinking.

Thanks Norm, but do you know for sure if that TC fits the Pilot Whale. I couldn't find it listed as an option for the PW anywhere and I know that the PW's body is a few mm larger in diameter than the body shown.

To overcome the heatsinking deficit of Ti, you could make the sidewalls thicker, and/or press an Al sleeve into it.

Ti shouldn't be a big issue here. The light doesn't get too hot as it is and it does have a rather beefy Aluminum light module and reflector plus a large area of threads that conduct to the body.
