Winter pics. Snow & ice...

Yup, you were near or in Fanconia Notch in the proximity to where I grew up and where I now often hike. When they first started posting those signs, maybe 15-20 years ago, they used to attach an ever increasing number like 92 collisions, 123 collision, etc. but finally they just had to go to hundreds. What in the world brought you up to Littleton? To visit Walmart and look for flashlights?

LOL I was traveling the area visiting some of my staff at various work locations. Had a wonderful lunch at the Opera Cafe in Littleton.

The scenery there is truly amazing. I thought I was in the Sierras! I so badly wanted to get some gear and go climbing, especially around "Old Man Historic Site." Some day...

Lets keep this thread going... there is so much amazing photography here.

This is a pic of a frozen lake alongside the freeway in NH. Again, it looked like a scene out of a fantasy movie. Must go hiking and climbing there...

Dang.. all you guys have snow, where i am its all melted and haven't had snow in two weeks or so I kinda miss it.

Excellent pics everybody. It's really cool to see the scenery where some member live. Seeing pictures, even if its just scenery helps me to relate to my fellow flashaholics. Because it is a discussion forum we get so used to just reading about things. Pics really help us identify with eachother.

That would be Echo Lake. It will ice out sometime in May. Lots of great hiking in the area, many with above treeline summits. While in Littleton, you could have stopped at the Littleton book store and bought a copy of the AMC Guide to the White Mountains. If this was a summer pic thread then I would post some of my White Mountain hiking photos but I've never hiked the area in the winter time. Many years there's a death or two of winter time hikers getting lost and succumbing the elements.

Ok, here's a couple my buddy took from southern NH during last December's ice storm. Many were out power for more then a week.

The driver turned that into a cyclone, spinning probably 5-6 times, then rescued it .... and repeated a twin turn and a four-turn later, never mind the scandinavian flick through a very, very icy sharp turn. Very impressed.

The rest of the set that I'll be publishing for now is here: http://www.23hq.com/bretti_kivi/album/3964425

I'll work on maybe getting some more good ones, but that's the cream of the crop; I'm looking forward to next week's event :D "more speed, more spins"!

Those are great! I went to your link. I always "test" my car after (um...during) the first snow of the season...actually, whenever I can. :)

Thanks for sharing,
MK

I took a couple of photos last weekend when I was skating on the Baltic near Stockholm, as you can see I was not exactly alone on the ice. Sorry for the poor quality but the pictures are taken with my mobile phone.
