some answers:

1. I have had the Pila charger and the AW RCR123 and 18650 batteries. I also have had the PD30 and EX10. Nothing wrong with the AW batteries or those lights/torches. and there is nothing wrong with the combination of the batteries and Pila charger. These batteries and charger are about as good as any similar devices I know of on the current consumer market.

I am unable to answer the question of 4RCR123 cells in the TK30.

2. When you ask about unattended charging, how unattended? The batteries are placed in the Pila charger and you go elsewhere in the house/flat/Wohnung/apt, not really a problem. If you are thinking that you would place the Li-Ion cells in the Pila charger and leave the house for work and no one is in the house/flat/Wohnung/apt for 8-10hr, that type of "unattended" is definitely not recommended.

In general, Li-Ion cells like to be topped up. So charge when you have finished your usage for the day or two. Do not wait until totally discharged and you have tripped the low-voltage cutout. That is not good for cell life anyway.

3. Even the excellent/quality-built Pila charger I would not place on a pile of paper or half buried under or next to clothes or combustibles. The question is not the Pila charger as much as it is the purity/quality of the cell being charged. AW supplies excellent cells in my experience of some couple dozen copies. but accidents do happen and I am not interested in discovering insurance covering the losses from fire. However to be fair, I would not place any battery charger next to or on top of combustibles.
