I'm thinking of getting a 2d mag and putting a 2 d li-ion battery in it. I would put a 5d mag xenon bulb in the front. It's kind of a cheep alternative to all the other expensive mods I've seen. Does this make sense? has anyone tried it? Any advice would be appreciated.

Not 100% certain on the bulb; I've heard the Mag xenons won't take much overdrive, but I think it'd be OK.

But since you mentioned price, not runtime (and presuming you don't need it to run for long bursts), maybe a ROP low on that battery, instead? Only about $5 more for substantially more output. Of course, the Mag bulb would be fine in continuous duty, where the ROP needs a metal reflector and glass lens for that, so if you need long runs, don't do that.

I kind of wanted a 5d mag shrunken down to a 2d. I would like to have the longest runtime possible and I don't need 900 lumens.
