Man, talk about a surge in XR-E lights. Well, we asked for it, they brought it on. Should we wait and see till all these are readily available?

Great timing for a thread. This should really help. Look's like it's going to get crowded.

LF2 is AAA type and should be available before the Chinese New Year!
A great gift if on schedule. :)

What about the Jetbeam MkIIx? Or hasn't that been confirmed to contain a Cree yet?

Am I the only one would would like to see a C or D cell Cree light at 1200mAh for some real runtime and super brightness?

Ultrafire C1 expect ~$50 (stainless steel)

Rexlight expect more than $30 IMO - more like $35-45 depending upon version. Perhaps more.

Hellbore - I have a prototype 3 C cell light not 2 feet from me. Not running at 1.2Ah but still badass - considerably more output than the P1D CE and it throws like no other LED I've seen before. It's a prototpye and the optics are a bit of a hack-job for the proto so I expect production units will throw even better. We'll build these to spec max 700mah. I don't expect to see these until ~April though when it's all said and done/

Thanks for that link lexina. Yup, i wanted to narrow it down to the chinese ones first. then further filter down to XR-E/P4 lights under $50 :) Since some prices arent fixed yet, and theres also a chance Fenix will lower once the market is a little more filled.

Btw, seems noone has much noticed the F1 with P4 emitter. Probably cos Lumapower has too many threads for its products :p kinda gets confusing.

kinda gets confusing.

It is a bit confusing. I kept waiting for an update thread, or a date change in the header to announce the new LumaPower lights. I stumbled on the update thread for the F1 with P4, and couldn't help myself. If LumaPower makes an AAA light with the SSC P4, I will finally have a keychain light that I will be happy with... until something brighter/smaller comes along.

Interesting. Will it be able to run on C sized NIMH rechargeables?

the new F1 looks hot. Hoping to be able to get it soon - shipping date supposedly early Feb. Would be my first SSC - P4 light. Given the elegant design and specs, I don't think I will even complain about the price!

considering the posts that Cree issued a press release that they have now qualified the XR-E up to 1 amp operation, i think that should be the goal for a light of that size.

Lumapower says that the M1 is driven at 750mAh. They generally seem to know what they are talking about!

No one is arguing to the contrary. But if you insist on choosing one single source for your XR-E know-hows, Cree obviously holds more credibility than Lumapower; they designed the darn things.
