That's right! A Surefire vs. Surefire debate!

I have a couple G2s, and they're ok for beating around lights, but I don't love them.

So I got a 6PD a while back, because everyone said the 6P was a staple for a real flashaholic. I put an X-RE drop-in in it, and it was nice, but it was a shelf queen. I never used it; just didn't feel it.

I just sold that one, and bought a new C2-HA on the MP. Now this is a light I want to use! I like the body shape, the flats, the clip, the grip ring, and the HA! Oh, I'm a sucker for natural type III ano. Looks awesome, tough as nails, grippy...just overall way cooler than gloss black type II. :naughty:

Now I have on the way a NB three mode SST50 drop-in, some 17670s, and a McClicky all going in this thing and it is going to get USED! I want this C2 to be scuffed and scratched and awesomely cool looking like some of the others in the 'beat up lights' threads.

It's safe to say I am not a G-series man, and I am not a P-series man, but I AM a C-series man. (And I haven't had a Z-series, but I think they're kind of ugly )

So what series man (or woman) are you? What's your favorite SF P60 host and what makes you love it more than the others? (Just keep discussion to those hosts, as their performance/function is basically the same, with mostly just body design differences between them. SF's other series are a topic for another thread.)

6P 18mm bored for LED - Its just so simple. Simplistic perfection, in a less is more kind of way. Perfection with a Malkoff M60/30. Mines pretty beat up looking too. I also like the DX-MCE drop in. In 18+ months it has been every bit as reliable as the 6P, and its good for 350L OTF.

M2 for incan - I like the feel, heft and finish quality. Shock isolation for incans is a good thing too.

The rectangular body of my Centurion is awesome. An MC-E drop-in looks pretty cool, I must say.

Oops, I didn't put the M2 in the poll. Oh, well, it's basically just an insulated C2 anyways, so I guess people could vote C2 if they want. Overall design is pretty similar. :ohgeez:

My first and only Surefire. A 6R that I use as a 6P bored for 18650. Picked it up about 15 years ago!

I tried the C2 with the nice HAIII etc but the belt clip faced the wrong way for me and the ring didn't allow it to go into my Eagle nylon belt case. They also don't like getting bored for 18650 use.

So, the good old 6P gets my vote.

James...:)

C and Z series can be bored so take 18mm cells but they have to be done with precision and the host being bored has to have a perfectly concentric inner bore and outer machining (some occasional ones do not). Even on the P series (and all SF P60 hosts), the O-ring groove has the same outer diamater as the thinnest part of the C and Z series.

I started with a 6P and then went into some Chinese hosts. I really liked the Solarforce L2 for awhile.
Then I got me an HA C2 and it was instant love. I also have a non HA glossy black C2 with a Strike bezel from a defender and a Z59 clickie. For some reason it doesn't excite me as much as the stock C2 HA. It sort of reminds me of those cheaper Chinese clones. Maybe I "ruined" my perception of it by going Chinese for so long.
Anyways my surefire C2 is my favorite light period.

Looks a treat to me:

EG bored HA gray C2 + GITD McClicky
w warm linger special 2.8A + AW 2600 18650 *FTW*

smooth SS bezel tho I might get a matte black one
at some point

usually rock the delrin shroud for tailstanding.

soon will install UCL- and new bezel oring (been lazy on this)

someday will own either a moddoo triple or VI quad...someday..

I also use AS-5 deoxit D5 and deoxit pro gold etc.

the Z series look nice too!

:twothumbs

i really prefer to use my nitrolon G-series hosts over my metal ones...they feel more comfortable in hand, especially when it's cold...

6p. So many clip and tail options. Really great body when upgraded to 18mm bore. C2 is nice but that clip is facing the wrong way for my liking.
Z is ugly and G can't hold it's heat...oh wait it does but too bad for the LED.
Just my opinion...please don't hurt me.

All opinions welcome, that's why I started the thread! I want to know why you love the host you love.

My NB sst 50 and Mcclicky came today so now my C2 is rocking about 550 lm on high and it's freaking awesome!

Having entered the P60 realm with a Solarforce L2, I didn't "get" the whole Surefire thing until I bought a G2L from a fellow CPF member.

After having the G2L for a bit, it got me wanting a 6P.
I got a 6P the hard way; Over a period of about 2 months I bought the head, body, and tailcap from 3 different members on CPFMP.

OK, enough rambling....

As mentioned, I only have a G2L and a non-bored 6P (not a problem as I have several AW 17670 cells).

I really like them both; the G2L for the Nitrolon body (great in the cold of Canadian winters) and the 6P because of how well it's contructed and how well it takes heat away from the LED drop-ins.

I'd have to give the edge to the 6P though.

Thought I would end up with more replies on this.

I'll give it a bump, and see what happens. If it dies again, I'll let it die.

On topic, I am still loving the C2. It goes with me now to work every night, as I work second shift, and the 550 lm high is awesome for checking out the plant and outside the building before I leave for the night, 'cuz it's pretty dark at 11 pm when I leave. Definitely my favorite of the P60 hosts.
