Youtube: 500 led light!!!

i applaud the effort, but if he was here, he could have build real light:)

although, the light seems perfect EDC for an Ogre :whistle::whistle:

50w power consumption? If you lined up enough crees for 50w power consumption then you'll have a really bright light. That light looked about as powerful as my 4 amp MC-E flashlight.

Well, it made me smile....:grin2:

Not that I'd ever want to carry around such a beast, but it's fun for the crazy factor.

...He should have done a comparison with a mag85, or a HID, or even a TK40.....

Haha! Not bad for a giant flashlight the size of a body builders arm!
That guy has the symptoms of a flashaholic, I wonder if he knows about CPF. He should join our force. He would be a powerful ally.

If that thing had a shotgun poking out the center and a pistol grip it would make an impressive room clearing device. LOL. Quite a control panel on that thing, I wonder what the actual total lumens output would be?

Some guys just want to prove they can build power supplies, the LED lights are just a selectable load for him. This is a total waste of time and energy other than proving he could "build it". One HID light would make that look sick and be a lot easier to handle. Two MC-E or P7 type flashlights will be far better performers than that. It is an absolute joke to carry that thing around as a hand held flashlight. My Malkoff Wildcat is far more useable brightness than that in a much better package. But seriously something like the Nail Bender triple P7 that would run 18 to 24 watts of power will put out more useful light than that thing.

So yeah its a good laugh. He gets a D minus though for "packaging" as he lost sight of the goal of to not make it a monstrosity.

Basically he's emulating all the Chinese DJ PARs that use the same configuration. Difference is, they can likely solder faster than he can :naughty:

Dude, I don't care what anyone says about this light. Anyone can slap a few MC-E's together and make a light, that's simple, let's see someone else make a 500 5mm light. The head remind's me of the Guiness World Records or people fitting straws, ciggarettes and what not in their mouth.

I wonder if he has any plans on upgrading those with Nichia GS's?

SWAT teams need these things, ramming open doors and blinding the crap out of everyone (including themselves lol).

Completely silly and under performing but I have to give him credit for the build since there's a lot of intricacy there.

Who's goal? I give him an A+ for coming up with a pretty origional idea...and actually spending the time and effort to make it happen. I could go buy a 50W hid and have a brighter light...but not one that would give me more pride of ownership that he has for the one he made.

Amen brother!

:thumbsdow Not cool at all.

Agree with everything you say, he can take comfort that there is nothing out on the market that will match it in terms of spill, absolutely nothing. I don't think he built it to use as a everyday light, he demonstrates you can build anything you set your mind to.

The guy is undoubtedly possessed of much skill and dedication. As LEDobsession points out, he would surely make a formidable ally in our continuing struggle against the "Darkness."

I'm not really sold on the Darth Vader-like interface though...
