I just noticed that the Princeton Tec Yukon HL has received a long-needed upgrade to (what appears to be) a Luxeon Rebel.

Maximum output is now listed at 78 lumens. I've noticed that Cabelas also sells the updated Yukon HL (made by PT, but with a Cabelas logo and a different name), with the option of white or green 5mm LEDs, or just the Rebel emitter and NO 5mm LEDs.

Does anyone have the updated Yukon HL? I know it's still not as bright as most of the newer headlamps out there, but I've always been a fan of the design... and durability... of the Yukon.

this is a bit old, but better late than never...
I have the original yukon hp, but found it to be very easy to upgrade. The PR flange 'pill' is essentially direct drive (with a couple zeners for reverse polarity I assume) so I put in a Seoul U bin. The existing construction has a silicone pad, but I did some touch ups to ensure isolation of the base. The seoul makes a donut ring with the reflector, but the OP makes it just about perfect otherwise.
Were I purchasing new, I'd go for the apex. Can't vouch for the rebel tho the one in my energizer 1w is too orange.
From the manuf website, looks like they went with a smooth reflector. bleh. If they kept the OP, and added a 4th cell by rotating the arrangement of AA's by 90°, and added some buck regulation, it would be sweet.
