I work outside at night and was considering a zebralight. I have never used a light which is so configured. My question is about the security of the light while working. If I climb a ladder or lay back on a creeper will it remain stable?

It should sit tight but the beam will swing around a bit. That wont be much of a problem with the floody zebralights but might be distracting with the h31/h51.

If you tighten the headband to the right tension then it will not move on your head although your head might move as you climb the ladder. I tend to use the floody Zebralights but am considering putting my SC30w on the side of the headband which already has a floody H501 at the front. For close up work you will use the floody light anyway but the reflectored lights are better if you need to look into the distance i.e. inspection work.

Another option is to use the clip to attach it to your shirt/work clothes. Then it is not likely to shift as much when you move.

The typical CPF answer would be to get both a floody and reflectored type.

If you clip them on your clothes you'll have your hands in front of them all the time.

I have an h60, it's a bit too heavy for the headband it comes with. The smaller ones weigh a lot less and probably are a lot better. I just ordered an ultrafire clone AA to try out.

I have used my zebra at work a bunch and it's a bit too much $ to bring to work imo. I've been using the hardcase light so I can leave it in my truck and not worry about it. It also has rubber lines inside the headband so it's very secure. If you bend over or something it doesn't shift and work can buy me AA's without any questions.

I use my H501 a couple of hours a day inside the house, but I do move around a bit. I haven't noticed any problem.

The floody beam works great for up close work. If you need throw, maybe one of the reflector lamps would be more appropriate?

Just to clarify, I usually wear my H501 around the neck and keep it attached to the shirt with the magnets so the light doesn't swing out when I bend over. I do use it as a headlamp when I need to look up or when working under the car.

This is how I use (and carry behind shirt) my H501 most of the time.

Man, it just feels great to own a light so small and versatile that I can use it anytime, anywhere and in almost anyway I want. I went through 4 Eneloops yesterday doing some sewing work by hand. It wouldn't have been nearly as convenient to do with a traditional jock strap headlamp.
