Help on Surefire L1

I just got my light and I think there is something wrong with it.

It is a low beam/high beam combination with momentary cap button and a constant on twist feature. When you twist the cap it requires a turn of about 290 degrees before the high beam kicks in. When it does kick in it will bottom out in another 5 degrees.

It doesn't seem to make sense to me that you would have to twist the cap almost a full revolution to get the high beam to come on. Very irritating feature on a $100 flashlight.

Anybody else have this light and this problem?

I emailed Surefire and await their response.

My L1 is about the same. I keep the tail cap in a position so
that I have the low beam with a soft push and the high beam
by pushing a little further. The round mark on the tail cap is
even with the mark on the main body with the light in the off
position. A 90 degree turn will turn on the low beam. The high
beam is also available with a push on the tail cap switch. A turn
of approximately 270 degrees will turn on the high beam and
the cap will stop within another 5 or so degrees. I really like
this setup and it works well for me.

This is normal for the L1 ......................

i've been thinking about getting one for a while, but didnt think I neded to spend $125 for another green LED light. I was recently asked if I owned a Surefire LED product, and I regretfully must admit I do not. I love my C3 & G2 but they aren't LEDS. Does anyone out there know if there are any new improvements from Surefire for L1 in 2006, or should I go ahead and get the L1 now?:sold:
