Surefire offers 3 Watt LED's powered at 1 Watt but I did not see any 5 watt LED's powered at 3 Watts or any power level below 5 watts. Is there a reason for this?

Also, does anyone know why Surefire does not offer a 5 watt "lensed" LED?

Lux Vs tend to be more floody and less throwy while Lux IIIs, if used with the right reflector or optic are the throw kings.

A Lux III driven at Lux I levels makes a more effecient '1 watt' light but a Lux V driven at Lux III levels would just make for a dimmer flood light.

There is the U2 ... you can dial down the drive current to your likings. The less you drive it, the more efficient it gets.

Lensed LuxV lights ... if you mean optix ... well, we might see some new things at SHOT. Then again, I hope they keep the reflectors, makes a beam more to my likings.
