Fenix lights, are they tested for specs?

Each one of them gives a lumen spec. Anyone know if their design specs are verified by a calibrated integrating sphere?

I don't think they are. I think the lumen specs are overrated. Nevertheless the output is great in my opinion :) I own the L0P, L1P and L2P.

Most manufacturers (Surefire and HDS excepted) just quote "bulb" lumens. So they take the lumens rating of the bulb or Luxeon they are using and quote that. The reflector and lens loses are ignored. And for Luxeons the loss from the die not being 25 degrees C is also ignored.

Fenix L1P claimed 46 lumens
Measured at Flashlightreviews.com 26 lumens

Fenix L2P claimed 46 lumens
Measured at Flashlightreviews.com 27 lumens

Fenix L0P claimed 30 lumens
Measured at Flashlightreviews.com 20 lumens

Big difference between bulb lumens and out the front lens lumens.

Plus there is the luxeon lottery - one of my L1Ps was roughly 2/3rd the output of my best.

Flashlightreviews.com do not have an integrating sphere and they don't measure in lumens. They measure in a proprietary "relative units" which has no conversion factor with lumens.

Well with the luxeon lottery, even if a Fenix was thrown in a sphere you won't know where yours stands.
