Saw a neat light at Babies R US (of all places)
It's a small light (looks to be incandescent - didn't look too carefully) that is mounted on a goose neck clamp, and comes w/ a remote (wireless) to activate it. It is designed to allow a driver to switch on the light at night ot look at a child in a carseat behind them via rearview mirror (includes a mirror to mount to seat back if carseat is rearfacing).
costs about $15
might be an interesting item for modding.
