Does a nonmod, ordinary production-model exist? Smallest package I know is my (multi-stage) HDS. I think in a while we will see them. But at the moment?

A lot of very bright and nice CR2-lights have 2-stage functionality. I have an orb and a CR2Ion. But as you said, they are not CR123.

The Fire~Fly III isn't much bigger than the P1 (especially if you get the pocket body rather than the keychain body). 2 or 3 stage (depending on mode), exceptionally bright, uses rechargables. The FF3 is the undisputed king of Output vs. Size for a 123A sized flashlight.
