a lot of us here seem to be a lot alike. it isn't just that we all like flashlights, we also share many of the same interests and beliefs...i've never seen a board with so many members have so many of the same interests and beliefs, it's almost as if we are subordinates to a big flashaholic god...

some similarities i have noticed between many here have been interest in flashlights(obviously), knives, guns, most of us appear to be republicans, and we all get along quite well.

i am curious in finding out exactly what we have in common...what we like...dislike...believe...etc.

as for me:
likes - flashlights, tolkien, computers, knives, vehicles, a/v equipment, guns, females, good food, expensive things, woodworking, (hopefully metalworking as soon as i get a lathe)...

dislikes - bad things(lying, stealing, etc.), bad food, most democrats, bin-laden, saddam...

i am a christian and a conservative conservative.

would you mind providing input about yourselves so we can determine just what makes a good flashaholic? (this information could also be useful in recruiting new flashaholics

First and foremost, living to serve our Father God and modeling His son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Pursuing and finding closeness to Him. Knowing His Word and being sensitive to the leadings of His Spirit.

Second, serving family and work in that order of priority.

Third, enjoying certain recreational activities, and the use of certain kinds of objects. Including cars, motorcycles, airplanes, firearms, bicycles, computers, guitars, flashlights, and sporting gear.

I constantly struggle to work that my priorities stay in the listed order, and in particular, that enjoyment of the things in the "third" category doesn't pre-empt proper focus on the first and second.

All that said, I sure relish a bright, handy, and nicely crafted light! With long runtimes and more lumens all the better!

Just my $.02.

Likes: LEDs, lasers, solid-state flashlights, gemstones, bikes, fruit trees, woodland gardening, hiking, animals, photography, color, Australia, Raving, seashells, They Might be Giants, The Band.

Dislikes: Most cars, George W. Bush (and most Republicans) manipulative people, people who think Raving is stupid, developers, M*glite, terrorists, marmite, New York (I'm quite sensitive; the place nearly gave me a heart attack, there was so much activity.)

Yep everyone, I'm not very fond of the human race in general, and I'm definitely a liberal. But, at risk of sounding sappy like Bobby Goldsborough, I prefer to make friends, not enemies!

Best,
James

I disagree with Rothrandir tho, I believe you'll find as much differences as similarity among CPF's members and flashlight lovers.

Anyway, here's my profile:

Other interests - computer overclocking/modifying, cars, knives, carpentry, snorkelling, hiking, camping & general outdoors activities.

Other things I collect - money (notes and coins), precious metals.

Dislike - ignorant/dumb/inconsiderate people, insects (the biting kind).

Well, why not:

Likes: Flashlights (the brighter the better!), flashlights (the smaller the better), flashlights (the longer lived the better), flashlights (well, you get the idea), aviation (especially when I'm behind the controls), exploration, family and friends.

Dislikes: Not too many. I even like wind-up flashlights.

thanks for the responses guys. a lot of what you said describes me quite well.

onyx, yes, there are bound to be differences...we are from all around the work, different ages, grew up differently, and we are certainly all different people (maybe a few exceptions here). i just noticed that we all get along exceptionally well, and we tend to have a lot of the same interests.

Craig, are you suggesting this stuff is missing since the "cleaning" of your apartment? Have you made a thorough search? If the "cleaners" cleaned out your precious lights, and lenses, that really sucks...and I'm sorry...let us know if any missing stuff turns up..I KNOW how MADDENING finding your valuables missing is..maybe we can replace some of it..
