I was thinking of getting a couple of those oval shaped yellow led running lights, they are three wire, what would be a safe way to hood them up to a switch, i want to place them in the black plastic inbetween the foglights"see pic"

mabey 5 in the center or 3 in the center and one to the right and left sides

A vehicle electrical system is very erratic. I have an on/off switch on the dash. It controlls the positive lead to the LEDs power supply. I run my LEDs off a current regulated power supply so they always run at full brightness but never burn up. Works good for me. I don't know what that third wire you have is for.

The third wire is for brake light function.

one wire is ground, the second is positive for running lights or turn signals, and the third is for brakes. Basically they are made to replace a light that used a dual filament bulb.
