Looking for something compact and high power

Hello, I'm new here but I have the Inova T1 85 lumen. The size of this flashlight (1" x 4.5") makes it real easy to carry around with me.
I'd like to know if there is an LED flashlight of similar "compact size" with noticeably more power and throw. I guess something with a Cree LED may flip the bill, but I am lost at this point. Can anybody give me some recommendations that would satisfy my thirst for more power and longer throw in a 1 or 2 battery torch? I guess my limit is around $250.

Thanks

You could buy about 10 Ultrafire C3s from DX first to see if that type of light will satisfy your needs. Or maybe just the one C3 with the single AA and 2 AA tubes, gives you two for one.

After you try something like this, you can make an informed choice if you want to move into a more expensive Cree light.

Welcome to CPF.
I recently received a Fenix L2D CE as a gift and liked it so much I quickly purchased a P2D bodytube and tail for it afterward. I really like the size of the P2D and the fact that I don't give up anything by going to this smaller size is a particularly nice feature.

Fantastic service from Alex at Fenix Tactical. No Tax and Free Shipping. I will buy all my Fenix lights from them, no question.

P3D CE is also a very nice light and very bright at 160 lumens. Next on my list. You'd have plenty of room in your budget to also outfit it with Li-Ion batteries.

These Li-Ions come highly recommended by other CPF members...

As others have said -

Fenix P3D CE for 2 x CR123 (and you can use rechargeables).

Fenix L2D CE for 2 x AA.

But even the Fenix P2D would give you 135 lumens on 1xCR123 (only use Tenergy 3.0v rechargeables though). Or the L1D would give you 90 lumens on 1xAA.

Also, with the L2D (2xAA), you can get a L1D body (1xAA) - or even a P2D body and tailcap (1xCR123). Many flashlights using one head.

Seriously, right now...for the money, Fenix is the way to go.

All for between $50-$70 USD. If you're in the U.S. go with Fenix-Store for sure (free shipping + 8% off using coupon code CPF8), and they even have the textured reflectors to smooth out the beam a bit (I already have one on pre-order): http://69.61.87.225/index.php?cPath=22_68

Wow, that Fenix P3D with Cree 7090 XR-E LED is 160 lumens with 2 CR123's. If there is nothing better right now in the market in a similar compact size, then I guess I'm going for the P3D.

are you capable of doing an emitter swap...cuz if you can get the q4 or q5 emitter in the dealer section and do the swap your looking at 20 more lumens....if not get the p3d q2 version at fenixstore

since you have 250 to spend i would get the p3d as well as the whole L1d with L2d & P2d bodies

the L1d L2d P2d have same head so you get 3 different lights in one

is "Textured" the same thing as "orange peel"
For the Fenix-Store...yes.

There are varying levels of "textured" though. Light orange peel, medium orange peel, heavy orange peel, and even strippled can all be considered "textured".

The Fenix-Store "Textured" means MOP - medium orange peel. Although plenty others have indicated it is a light orange peel (something I prefer anyhow).

Does the MOP come from fenix factory or is it put on by fenix-store? Lighthound.com has the MOP Fenix also, I wonder if they are the same?

Not so much throw, but the MTE 1AA SSC http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1995

is QUITE bright and on a common AA.

Only bad part(s) IMO are a persnickety clickie (must hit it JUST right) and no clip (and the clip from a River Rock AA fits but doesn't have anything to stop it from climbing off the MTE).

That's the smallest brightest thing I have, but my Fenix P1 (1-level LUXIII) is my favorite small light!

They are the same - they are MOP from the Fenix factory. Fenix-Store just got them weeks before in their Q2 Special Editions.
