questions about aspheric mag

hi all, i recently purchased the combo with both cree q5 drop in and aspheric lens for my mag.

I installed it and tested.
It's a helluva thrower, but very similar to my overdriven dx super thrower at 1.6A with standard reflector. so I'm a little bit dissapointed there.

Also, there seems to be artifacts in the beam? is that common or have i done something wrong?

it should focus to the cree die pattern on a wall

Is there a ring on the wall?(that would be the metal ring around the Cree)

Are you using the reflector?

Using no reflector, I can clearly see the cree die (which is fine) but besides that, I can also see some odd shaped rings which i wasnt expecting.

Should i try and take a beamshot?
