IMHO polycarbonate plastics are preferable if you need high-impact durability. I think there are a wide range of scratch resistance grades used by various flashlight manufacturers. My ROV sportsman plastic lens is very scratch resistant, and I think it has an anti-ESD coating on it too because dust and lint do not attract to it at all. While my TOP stryker scratches very easily and carries a heavy ESD charge (IE a dust magnet).
