I'd suggest you do a quick search using the CPF google engine at the top of the screen - you will find a plethora of information on the topic that can get you started.
I've always owned petzls and been happy with the quality - even with their basic models like the tikka.
Check out the petzl e+lite.
Multi-modes, small and red output. Cheap too!
