I've been hearing something about an XP-G emitter or something like that. What can we expect from them and more importantly when do we thing we'll see them?

Engineering Samples of Cree's XP-G emitter are now shipping.

I kinda' expect them to appear in "shipping flashlights" by Christmas.

The XP-G is supposed to produce 139 lumens at 350ma or 132 lumens/watt. At 1A, it produces 345 lumens. :wow: Its package is the same as the XP-E, though its die is twice as large.

Hmmmm so do you think it would work with current SF optics?

I think that since it's just one large die it might work in some current optics. Not sure if it would work well though. I'm not sure that SF has any lights that use the XP-E though. Still it's hard to say. We'll know it when we see it I guess. Personally I'd like to see what some of the large die leds like this and the SST's look like in conjunction with an aspheric lens.

This is a topic for the LED forum, not for LED Flashlights. CampingLED has given a link to the thread covering this topic, so please continue there and I'll close this one.
