I have a DX SSC P7, single 18650, 5 mode. The light will basically always be run on the maximum output mode. In stock configuration the max mode is pretty weak. It's not much better than my PD30+, and my TK40 simply smokes it. My expectation was that the output should rival the TK40, but with a different pattern of course.
I am thinking that the driver is regulating the power too much, and so I am considering bypassing it to get more out of the LED. I've never modded anything before, so I am just trying to get some input to let me know that I am on the right track.
I figure, first check the voltage running into the LED on high mode and make sure it's getting the normal/full 3.8v or what ever the 18650 is currently able to offer. As long as this is the case, I should be able to just bypass the driver and have a 1 mode, direct drive, which should result in more output, given that I have good cells.
Is this correct so far? Please advise & thank you! :twothumbs
