Streamlight Haz-Lo mod?

I was given a Streamlight Haz-Lo at work and would like to improve on its performance by adding a driver and a new LED. Right now the light only has one setting and the O/P has a lot of rings. The case is plastic and it uses three AA's so I'm not expecting a huge improvement.

Any ideas on a LED and a driver? I've taken it apart to see what will fit inside and the star board doesn't look like an issue to replace but adding a driver board might be tight.

Keeping in mind that I have never played with the headlamp in question...

Does the headlamp have a Luxeon LED? I'm guess yes, just based on the output. If so, you should be able to double the output by replacing the Luxeon star with a Seoul P4 on a star, and the Seoul should work with the original reflector.

That's a safety rated light (Class 1, Div 1 hazardous locations). I bet any modifications invalidate the certification, so you may want to check if it is required before you make any mods.

vt, it is a Luxeon. I do have a P4 around so I'll try it out.

LED_astray, a headlamp of this certification is not needed for my job. It was ordered by one of my colleagues and now that I have it another one can't be ordered.
