They claim that it won't even need any kind of batteries, I sent them an email to clarify lumens and battery claim

I had to dig a bit to get more info on this light. It seems to be the old version.

Here's the non-shortened URL: http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=578686af2cdfbb9be216c0427&id=41d6cb9298

An old thread on it from 2009. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...sic-quot-flashlight-(stainless-steel-version)

This is the newer version, which has a rechargeable battery.

I guess they decided the old version didn't last long enough on their power source and had to go rechargeable. The new version is definitely not as cheap.

I know the rechargeable one and I received this email today and they tweeted about it an hour ago http://goo.gl/TmFlF so I think this is an upgraded version

" oh by the way, I shortened that URL :) "

I am curious how it is everlasting. If it even just puts out 5-10 lumens but really does not need battery changes or charges then it is quite interesting. It is not hard to imagine how it could be self-powered (there are plenty of self-powered* watches, using a wide array of technologies).

*self-powered is probably not exactly the correct term for kinetic, automatic winder, solar, or thermal technologies but in practice that's sure what it feels like.

I asked them that exact question and inquired about the lumens , its at 20$ with shipping by the way

I will get back with the response I get from their Support,

It says that it's guaranteed to last 10-years, so the "everlasting" claim is a slight exaggeration. It's probably just a high capacity battery that will eventually die.

This light comes up here every few months someone stumbles across. For the price I have been tempted but I havnt come across one post anywhere on the internet of anyone ownig one or doing a review. So to me its vaporware until i see it in hands. Also, if its shipping now whats with the 28 day lead time on shipping? Doesnt that strike anyone as wierd?
