Can you mill a tritium slot in the RA twisty?

I'm looking at having a trit or two installed on my twisty. I have the single 123 tube, and I want to have a slot or two milled in the bare metal part of the battery tube (part that looks like a button) Can this be done? Is it thick enough? Any info helps!
