The quark Turbo AA*2 is one of the low voltage heads (0.9V~4.2V).

If I use a single AA tube with a 14500 or a CR123*2 tube with a 17670, can I expect the only real difference to be slightly double the run time for the 17670? (750mAh for the 14500 vs 1600mAh for the 17670.)

What effect (if any) would the Li-ions have on max lumens as opposed to Nimh?

I have a Turbo Quark 2*AA warm.
I tried using 14 500 together with a metal insert.
Brightness does not change.
The maximum output current is reduced from 1.6A (2*AA) to 0.8A (1*14500).
17 670 is not used, so to say anything about the runtime can not.
I guess 1600 / 0.8 = 2 hours
Good luck

Thanks, Sergey.

My actual goal is a decent thrower that has as many battery options as possible.

With a low voltage Turbo head and a full set of body tubes, I could (in theory) run it off of 2 AA Nimh, 1 CR123A, 1 14500, or 1 17670.

Yup. My current EDC for man-bag is a high CRI Quark 123 head on an AA body running on a 14500. On the lower levels brightnesses are identical with 14500, eneloop, or L91, but max is noticeably brighter on 14500 than on the other chemistries.
