Jetbeam JET III M R5 and polarity reverse protection ?

Have you checked the battery / tried a different battery?
I'm not sure if the Jet III-M had physical or electronic reverse polarity protection. If it's electronic, then you should be fine. If it's physical, then there's a chance the battery still made contact and destroyed the driver.
