Here is a comparison of the InReTECH vs the Opalec:

http://www.inretech.com/pictures/ivo.jpg

The Incandescent and InReTECH are from our digital lightmeter, the Opalec value is set at 41cd for 600mins (10hrs)

Run Time:

http://www.opalec.com/products.html

"Typical battery life is around 10 hours at full brilliance"

Brightness:

http://www.opalec.com/support.html

"Since the NewBeam drives the LEDs at 30 mA, the typical NewBeam intensity will be approximately 3 x 30/20 x 9,200 = 41,000 mcd = 41 cd"

Keep in mind that the Inretech White is not regulated, while the Opalec is regulated. If the Opalec was unregulated, it would require 3 AA alkalines, instead of 2, and the runtime would be close to 150 hours, instead of 10.

Here's a runtime plot for an early Inretech white AA converter:

Snapper,
I looked at Inretechs charts and they indicate that your 2AA Mag will run 22 hours until it hits the level of the opalec. After that expect a few DAYS of like brightness so it would be a great emergency light or high usage light.
