Hey guys, this is my first post at CPF. I collect watches and spend a lot of time on the various watch forums, but I have never bothered to register here. I'm a police officer, and on duty I carry a streamlight stinger on my belt, with a streamlight SL20X LED in my bag. Off duty I carry a fenix LD10. As an on duty backup light, I have a Surefire L4 Lumamax that never gets used because I don't have a holster for it...

... I know all about the Surefire V21 or whatever it's called for the L4, but the problem with that is that it's nylon, and at work I'm only allowed to wear leather, specifically black basketweave.

Can someone recommend me a good holster for the L4? I hate having such a nice flashlight that never gets used...

Thanks!

Not basketweave but the Surefire L4/E2e bodies fit in a MiniMaglite AA leather holster like this. The fit is tight at first but loosens up nicely to fit snug. I use one occasionally for my E2e. This one from Boston Leather can be had in basketweave. My reasoning is if the MiniMaglite one works the one from Boston Leather should too. For less than $10 it's worth a try.

I may give one of those a shot... do you think the pocket clip on the L4 would prevent it from fitting completely down in the holster?

Standby...I'll check when I get home.

Here are picture of a first edition KL4 with a different tailcap (Surefire Backup tailcap) in a MiniMaglite holster. I'll say it again, the fit is tight at first but repeatly putting the light into and out of the holster will loosen it up fairly quickly. Let me also add this holster fits on a 2 1/4" duty belt.

Much appreciated, thanks! Think I'm going to pick one of those up right now. :grin2:

Some other CPR'ers on this board have also used the soak it in water for a hour or two method. I have not used this technique but others swear by it. Put the L4 in the damp sheath to stretch it. Put the damp sheath with the light in it over a air register to help it dry over night.

Also, if you want a leather holster for your L4 that is more enclosed and with a snapping flap, a Streamlight Strion holster from police/fireman supply places fits well also. I use two of them for my EDC lights for my job.
