#1. Pelican 7060. 160 lumen. 16000cd. 100 yards realistic throw. 40 yards useful spill. 2200mah 18650. 1.5 hours; maximum output till it dies. Does not dim.
#2. Klarus RS11. 620, 150, 10 lumen. 7200cd. 100-125 realistic throw. 50 yards bright as **** spill. 18650 protected. 2.2(650), 7.3(150), 215(10).
#3. Surefire 6p. 60 lumen. don't know cd. 60 yard throw. 40 yard spill. (2) 123's. 25-30 min until it dims.
#4. Bayco Tac 200. 120 lumen. 6000cd I think? 100 yard throw. 40 yard spill. (2) 123's. 4.5 hours runtime. Reality is 2 hours at 100+ lumens, then dwindles down another 2.5 hours to poop. EDC light.
#5. Ryobi Tek4. 60 lumen. weak cd. 45-50 throw. 15 yard spill. Ryobi 4v rechargable. 5-6 hours runtime. Excellent light for home illumination. Not crazy bright. My 4 year old daughter's favortie light. Built very well. Perfect dog walking light.
#6. Tech Light Lumen Master 200. 100-200 lumen. 85-100 throw. 50 yard spill. (3) AAA. 1hour at 200, 3hours at 100. Costco special! Very underrated light. Very good spill and dense hotspot. 15-20 bucks for a three pack, don't mind if one breaks or gets lost. Very durable, underpriced for its performance.

The 7060 is my duty light. I love my RS11 but I trust my life only to the 7060 and trusty 6p. RS11 just makes me smile turning night into day.

My only good light is a Preon 2, but I am very satisfied with it and will buy another Foursevens. I hope to expand with a aa light next (I wanted to start with aaa and aa because of availability) before I get into lithium lights.

I did that too. Started out with a 4sevens AA2 R5. Then I bought a 4sevens AA2 X tactical with flush tailcap which is now my favorite light because I don't have to worry about ruining my Li-ions. If you find flashlights interesting and gets a kick out of holding a bright flashlight, you should definately go ahead and buy yourself a christmas present: Pila IBC charger, 2 x 18650's (Panasonic NCR18650B based), a Solarforce L2P P60-host and a nailbender XM-L drop-in.

Since the above lengths don't really match up with my EDC setup, I'll group them into battery size:

1x CR123 = McGizmo Haiku
2x CR123 (or single 18650) = Prometheus Alpha Blue-Label with XML and TIR lens (sometimes though it's a Surefire EB2 Backup)
3x CR123 (or 2x Li-ion) = Malkoff Wildcat

Flood = Malkoff Wildcat (using 2x AW 18500)
Thrower = custom Oveready Surefire C2 with M2 head (1000+ OTF lumens on single AW 18650), or Surefire UB3T Invictus
All-rounder = Prometheus Alpha Blue-Label with 4500K MCE, or Surefire U2 Ultra with custom 5000K XPG2 (single AW 17670)

I just got into flashlights, so I don't own that many and I don't know much about them. My favorite one is my Fenix LD20, even though I'm not entirely comfortable with it. It's very powerful at 180 lumens and, at about $45.00, it's inexpensive. Here are the stats from Amazon:

Operational Features and Specifications:
  • Two modes of output: general and turbo
  • Modes selected by turning the bezel (patented)
  • General Mode: 9 lumens (71 hours) -> 50 lumens (13 hours) 105 lumens (5 hours) -> SOS
  • Turbo Mode: 205 lumens (2 hours) -> Strobe
  • Push-button tail cap switch
  • Capable of standing up securely on a flat surface to serve as a candle
  • Anti-roll, slip-resistant body design
  • Included accessories: holster, lanyard, body clip, two spare o-rings, and a rubber switch boot
Specifications:

  • Cree XP-G LED (R4) with lifespan of 50,000 hours
  • Max beam length: 135 meters
  • Dimensions: 150 x 21.5 millimeters (Length x Diameter)
  • Weight: 60 grams (excluding batteries)
  • Power: two 1.5V AA ( Alkaline, Ni-MH, Lithium ) batteries
  • Digitally regulated output - maintains constant brightness
  • Made of durable aircraft-grade aluminum
  • Premium Type III hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish
  • Toughened ultra-clear glass lens with anti-reflective coating
  • Waterproof to IPX-8 Standard
  • 15-day replacement warranty; 24 month repair warranty; limited lifetime repair warranty subject to a charge for parts

I don't mean to be (too) sarcastic, but the best flashlight is the one you have with you.

For me, that means something very small that I can keep in my pocket, even in the office. I kind of rotate between a Peak Eiger 10180 body with a Nichia 219 Mule from Oveready and a Tain Ottavino AAA. Lately, the Tain Ottavino AAA has been getting a of pocket time.

You know the light I've really grown fond of I bought for $10 at a hardware store in SF. It's called a Larry Light and damn if it hasn't logged a bunch of hours here at LizardLand Ranch. Why? 1. The powerful magnet plate. 2. The pocket clip. 3. It's vertical orientation. 4. Cute factor and 5. At $10 I went out and bought 10 of them and when people say that's so cool I just hand one to them. Here's a link to the manufacturer's site: https://www.nebotools.com/prod_details.php?id=165 Truth is this light is better than anything I owned up until I broke down and bought my first Streamlight Survivor rechargeable back about 15 years ago. Or was it 20? I still keep it around for the inevitable power failures here. Oh yeah, SDG&E sucks!

Best for me is:

Best UI - Klarus NT20:
Still haven't found anything even close.

2nd Best UI - Sunwayman V11R.
(no pic)

Best EDC size - EagleTac D25LC2

Best tint - tough one. Really liking my Convoy S4 with XP-G2 R5 5A2 at the moment. Nichia219B is pretty close though and I really love the tint of the Maglite Solitaire LED with it's Luxeon C.

Best switch - Convoy S2+:

Best flood - Zuesray

Best non lithium-ion AA/AAA - POP lite T33

Best pocket clip - Solarforce T1:

EDC ( upto 3 " ) - Fenix E01 - Fantastic backup light. Simple, very long running, and ultra tough and reliable.

EDC ( above 3" ) - HDS EDC 170 neutral - Excellent size, fully programmable, 0.02 up to 170 lumens of beautiful light from the Nichia emitter.

EDC ( more than 5 ") - SureFire LX2 - Excellent reversible pocket clip, 15/200 lumens is great for almost all lighting needs outside of low light uses and awesome SF two stage switch.

Flooder - Fenix E35UE - Very nice floody beam of 360 on high or 900 on burst and dual fuel capable (2xCR123 or 1x18650).

Thrower - Fenix TK75 - Awesome 2900 lumen beam with ~120k cd for throw. Powered by 4x18650 means good runtimes and not worrying about burning through primary cells (opposite of my SureFire M6)

All arounder - HDS EDC 170 neutral - While it's not a thrower, it really excels at pretty much everything else. It is, without question, the closest to handheld lighting perfection I've found in my many years of buying and trying flashlights while a member of CPF.

Sorry, couldn't remember much more than this:

EDC ( upto 3 " )
FourSevens Min123 HCRI. It'll be three years in March, and it's never skipped a beat. Runs for days on low (3 lumens), provides adequate light (40 lumens) for 8 hours, and runs for about an hour on high (180 lumen). Warm XPG.

EDC ( above 3" )
Surefire L1 Lumamax. Excellent UI, lanyard ring, knurling, and very versatile with F04 and F05. Perfect compromise between practical and tactical. 10/65 lumens for 16/1.5 hours.

EDC ( more than 5 ")
Surefire C2 with Malkoff M61L 219. 5 hour regulated runtime, excellent color rendering, bulletproof, single mode operation. 150 lumens, on the floody side.

Flooder
6P with Sportac 219A triple. HCRI all over everything. 676 OTF lumens

Thrower
Armytek Barracuda. Throws like a beam with it's deep reflector. (119k cd). 1,100 lumens approx with additional lower modes accessed by loosening the bezel.

All Rounder
Surefire L1 Lumamax. Most of the time the phrase "jack of all trades, master of none" can be an indication of sacrificing perfection in some areas to be adequate in all areas. but the L1 combines plenty of features/configurations which increase its utility without losing it's ability to be used as a simple, reliable "tactical" light.
