Cheap Light Alert

While browsing through my favorite upscale emporium (Big Lots) today I came upon "The Latest in Flashlight Technology". It comes from the NeoGlo people and carries the very snappy name BRIGHTLIGHT. It cost $4.99. What you get is a 4 AAA light, batts arranged like a PT Attitude, an odd screw down tail cap, three LED's in a largish reflectored/lensed head, and a side clickie that cycles through 1,2, or 3 LED's. The beam's pretty ringy, but fairly white. The head/reflector/lens easily screws off. I haven't checked it out in the dark yet. All in all, it's probably worth at least six bucks. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowlaugh.gif

I got one of those. Not bad for $5.00.

Mine has a problem however, when you
turn it off, the 2 outer leds still very
slightly glow. It must be a switch
problem because if you remove cap
breaking contact they go out.
Sort of an "Added feature" Always
On.

Ah, that must be the "battery discharge circuit active" indicator feature. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ha, I guess you get what you pay for, at least most of the time. Just like your light, Rebus, I found that the outer LEDs also glow slightly when power is supposedly off. Well, if I still have my receipt, it's back to Big Lots tomorrow.

I figure that's why they are at
BigLots. Maybe these were culled
from the good ones and liquidated.
I will probably keep mine for mod or
parts.
