I want a very high power light to keep in the squad to use in felony stops, and other high risk situations. Is the higher light output of the M6 worth the much higher cost? I am going to buy an M4 from the Sable Company when my tax refund shows up, but want to know if I should put the M4 aside, scrape some extra money up, and get the M6 DEATHBEAM. This is coming out of my own pocket, so cost is a factor. Any input is appreciated.

Scott,

The M6 is very impressive for patrol and especially plainclothes use, although if money is a factor then I can't see how a 350 lumen M4 wouldn't be pretty much the same. It would even fit in your sap pocket better. The M6 is a tight fit in mine, especially with all the grooves.

Go with whatever other features make you happy, including price. I really don't think the difference between 350 and 500 lumens would be very important at Felony stop distances of 20-50' or so.

Good Luck,

Dennis.

Hi,

I have the Surefire E1 (15 lumens), 6P (120 lumens), M2 (120 lumens), M3 (225 lumens), and M6 (500 lumens). I don't have the M4 for direct comparison, but I can say that:

6P/M2 are MUCH MUCH brighter than E1
M3 is only a little brighter than 6P/M2
M6 is MUCH x 10 brighter than M3

It might only be 500 lumens, but I swear the M6 seems to be 1000 lumens. It is SOOOOO bright, it's scary. Pocket sunlight I say.

I suspect the M6 is significantly brighter than the M4. My opinion is that you should go for the M6. You won't regret it.

Actually, I think Size15s/Windler has experience with 350 lumens vs 500 lumens and he might be able to help you.

Why not get a 12ZM or 12PM they have 500 lumen output on 4 cells for 12 minutes. You can get these lightes for about $125 new. If you must have a new style Sure-Fire the 500 lumen 12 series bulb will fit in the M4

My view is that the Shock Isolated Millennium TurboHead and HA is more then enough reason to get the M4.

With the M4, you'll also be getting two Lamp Modules, and you can buy the N62 500Lu Lamp as an extra.

The Beauty of the 12PM [I don't have the M4 yet] is it's tiny size. For the amount and quality of light it produces, there is no better flashlight. Of course the downside is the runtime, but just how long will you need to have it on for? Seconds, maybe a minute at a time tops. Anything more, and you'd be better off with the M6 or 10X.

The M6 MN21 500Lu beam is bigger, brighter and even more impressive then the 12PM N62 Beam. However, I have the old 3" Extended Range TurboHead on my 12PM, and I prefer the tighter beam it projects at long range compared to the M6 MN21 "Flood" or "wall" of light.

I have the MN61 Lamp Module on order, and hope to have a review of all the Millennium TurboHead Lamp Modules currently available (and some that aren't

) in the near future.

The 12PM/M4 has a very important role - it's a specialist illumination tool, and more than justifies it's running costs. The M6 is bigger and brighter. Personally, I'd get the M6, but I have different requirements.
