Ok you SF junkies, been reading the boards for about a month and finally got a D2. Got the P61 bulb for it, very bright. However the P60 is not as bright as the E2 (got it for a gift) and it is very, very oval (the D2), like maglite oval. Should I call SF about this or does this happen?

The newer P60's are oval in shape. I have 4 of them and they range from a perfect circle to egg shaped. It seems as the lamps get newer (more receint) they get more egg shaped. You could just order a spare and see what you get. If you really don't like it call surefire and ask them if they can replace the lamp, its worth a shot anyway.

I also have various P60s, and they also have a range of central beam shapes. All are SureFire quality beams. The P61s I've used have always been perfectly circular.

[Alastair has lots of Lamp Modules. He finds that the Oval shape of the central beam is less of an issue if the output is high enough. But Alastair gets used to them...]
