Battery Question for a couple of lights

Hello CPFers,

Sorry for the newbie question here but I was hoping to know what are good batteries to use for Macs Tri-EDC and McGizmo LunaSol 20 and Ti PD-S. I have read and to me, it seems that for Macs EDC i need AW IMR 18350 and for McGizmo i need to use RCR123. My question is do I need to use Rechargables or can I use a regular battery like CR123 for McG but I am not sure which one to use for Tri_EDC.

I also bought a HDS systems clicky and a Tain Zenith Damascus and the Tain requires a 16340 and I beleive so does the HDS. My question, would the RCR123a batteries work instead or do I need to buy the 16340 as well?

Please answer this newbie gently. Sorry for bringing up an old discussion.

You can use either the RC123 or RCR123 with the Mcgizmos. Either are fine. For the mac, the red IMRs are highly recommended due to ampage of that light on high.

Thanks or the reply. So for Macs I wil go with AW IMR 18350.. I am still confused about the McG. I can use the RCR123 for the McG. I didn't find any difference between RCR123 and RCR123a. Is one better than the other?

Also, can I use the SureFire 123A batteries for McGizmo LunaSol 20? I had bought them for the CoolFall Tri-V so I have a pack of it.

Cerealand probably means CR123 and RCR123.
for McGizmo, any battery types are fine as long as it fits. McGizmos doesnt push the limits like Mac's lights.
IMR 18350 are recommended for Mac's because its a power hog. so the larger 18350 can provide better runtimes, and IMR chemistry for high amp drain, and safety.

you have some great lights for a newbie. the LS20 is my dream light.

Thanks for the response. I will then use the SF 123A for the McGizmo as I have a pack.. I was hoping to keep the battery types minimal so I can hav bulk pack which i can use... the LS20 is great and it was one of the best ones..

About the Collection, I still don't understand how a Maglite Incandescent Solitaire triggered flashlight addiction and made my wallet hurt.. :D

Re: Battery Question for a couple of lights

RCR123 and 16340 are the same thing. 16340 is calling the battery by its size. RCR123 is sort of the colloquial term for (R)echargeableCR123.

AW black rcr123 protected cells are proven, reliable cells. I highly recommend them.

Re: Battery Question for a couple of lights

There is a lot of potentially confusing battery terminology ... :sigh:

ICR 16340 is usually called " RCR123(A) "

IMR 16340 is usually called "16340"
