Craig\'s got warm white luxeon beamshot!!!

Craig The LED Museum has a beamshot of a warm white luxeon star/O on his website. I knew he had gotten one, and have even PM'd him about the beamshot since he's put it up. He's given more info about the beamshot since then, even the bin code for that particular star/O.

Nice pic.

Now if I could just find one with a star heatsink. No go at the shoppe, Future, and Mark Hannah. I want to put one in my Zenix headlamp. I hate the glare coming from my head caused by cool blue LEDs.

Perfectly round hotspot, looks almost like a E2e beamshot.

the star/o's that i have all use a low dome and NX01 optic. the result is a very pretty and nicely round beam.

might have to get myself some warm whites...

This "warm white" Luxeon Star /O is no different. It uses a low-dome emitter and an NX01 optic.
And it comes on a square MCPCB that measures 1.0" on each side.

the nx01 is concave, the nx05 is flat on top.

nx01+ low dome = big round spot (wide spot or narrow flood?) with the same brightness across the spot.

nx05 + low dome = mild hotspot with nice fading corona.

nx05 + high dome = tight little square shaped hotspot with big, weaker corona. still a nice pattern.

never tried the nx01 with a high dome.

Does NX-01 + LD have any spill? Also, does anyone know if you can still buy these? I haven't seen one for sale anywhere in quite a long time.

unfortunately, i dont have a beamshot.

ever see a palight or impact's round and well defined spot? that is what it looks like, but BIG. it is actually a very cool and useful beam pattern.
some people prefer them to the nx05.

they are hard to find, and i ended up with a couple that i salvaged from pukey green star-o.

So is it safe to assume that if you get a star/0 with LD it's automatically an NX-01? And if you get a star/O with HD it's an NX-05? All the star/O's I've gotten have been HD's - going back to a few months after Luxeons first came out, and they all came with NX-05. Craig's sample obviously has to be a recent sample (Craig, did you get this one from Lumileds directly?), and if it came with NX-01, they must still be making them.

I got mine from Lance's Lighting in Australia, not directly from Lumileds. Since it is a relatively new product, I can only assume that Lumileds still makes and uses NX01 optics.
