Hi all,

I am looking for torches that use 2x - 14500, 4x - 14500, 8x -14500 batteries. Seems this cell is only used in 1X configuration.
I know 18650 and other cells are popular but I like thin handle lights. Anyways if anyone knows of larger lights that use 14500's please reply, I am curious. Oh I have 12 - 14500's that need a home.

Thanks

Go to FastTech dot com.

Search for FandyFire Rook and look at it. 3x14500, but it's one of those questionable Chinese lights.

I use 14500s in my Xeno E03, now my SWM V11R/M11R with AA tube and a ShiningBeam I-Mini with AA tube. Much better output in the bigger 'small' lights that can handle the added heat. My L3 Illuminations L10 just heats up too quickly, so it's an Eneloop for him.

I use one in a V11R, and I modded a mini mag with an xhp50 a while back, so it's two IMRs and all flood.

I use various Quark high voltage (3-9v) heads lego'd to a 2xAA tube with 2x14500s, and they'll even limp along on 2xNiMhs.

I just got my Fenix E25 UE, which uses 2xAA, NiMH, lithium primary, or 14500. I haven't even had time to charge up my 14500s yet, but so far, I really like the light. The mode spacing is the best I've seen, with a 5-lumen low and 350-lumen high (plus 1000 lumen turbo only on 14500). The low and high modes are noticeably lower and higher than those on my old E25, which was previously my favorite 2xAA. There are a couple of things I like better about the older model (it's quite a bit shorter, and it's got a more defined hotspot). However, with the new one taking 14500s, you can't go wrong in my opinion. I was planning to buy another E25 when I found out about the UE, and I'm glad to have both. If you're looking for a 2x14500, you can't go wrong with the E25UE (the old E25 doesn't take li-ion).

Don't forget that with some 2AA lights you can get by with one 14500 and a dummy spacer. You run a risk of letting the magic blue smoke out with a freshly charged cell, but the voltages might be close enough to make it work. It's not a solution for buying a new light, if you already have a 2AA light you are willing to risk, it's worth a try.

I've always found the best use for a 14500 is in the 1x14500 scenario. Big reason there aren't many multi 14500 lights is that most people want AA in that form factor and once you add multiple 14500s in series, you quickly get a large voltage. It's hard to design a driver that perform well with 2xAA (2.4V) and 2x14500 (7.4V). The difference gets even wider with more 14500s. It's good that the E25UE allows the use of both though.

I do love single 14500 lights though. In fact, 90% of my EDC is 14500. My favorite is lights that are properly functional on 14500 and yet still perform acceptably with AA for backup. The 14500 (Li-ion) is a great EDC cell as it is light and responds well to small topping-off charges. Not to mention it enables maximum brightness in a small package.

I run a 47s Mini AA on 14500 as my EDC light. Well, technically the 47s driver in a Maratac CU AA body.
