Issue with SKY RAY 10x CREE XML R8 LED Flashlight

I am hoping someone can help me with my fustrating issue... Bought this torch on ebay hoping to enjoy a really bright torch.

Arrived and was reasonably please with the torch but then being a novice I had not realised I need specific batteries for it.

It does not take AA or any standard UK battery but requires 18650 type batteries for torches.

So bought some of these from amazon *link removed considering the great reviews they had.

On arrival I was finally excited to try out my new torch.

However the battery housing in the torch was too tight... I made the mistake of forcing the batteries into the housing... which tore of the plastic battery casing.

Unsurprisingly the torch did not work. So I have some questions

1. Are these batteries now useless (the ones that have lost their casing)
2. also do you think I will have damaged the torch
3. What batteries would fit my torch... are there smaller versions of the 18650 type battery.
4. The circuit board is not properly attached to the main torch housing... should I glue this in place?

Sorry for being such a novice in this area but any help would be very much appreciated.
